Tiana always been careful never to burn herself while baking. She’d seen people she worked with do it several times, the result never ending very well. Hospital, infection, nasty burn on your skin for the rest of your life. She’d seen all of these things multiple times. She grabbed the oven mit, and carefully eased the cookie tray out of the oven. She set it on the counter next to the oven before shrugging off the mit and waiting for the cookies to cool.

She really didn’t have any idea what she was doing up at this hour, it was nearly two in the morning and her she was baking cookies. Ridiculous, she scolded herself. She had work tomorrow, too. For some reason, she couldn’t sleep. 

From across the room she eyed the sink warily. She had been carefully when pouring the water for the cookie mix, she always had to be careful around water. The curse she had made cooking ten times harder for her, but she waltzed around it. Tiana just couldn’t stay away from the kitchen. She hadn’t stepped within twenty feet of the swimming pool doors, worried that someone might have left a puddle of water that might was dribbled off of them and onto the floor. 

Tia sighed dejectedly, shaking all thoughts of her curse out of her head. She  pulled open one of the drawers and shuffled around, looking for a spatula. She found one, bringing it out and shutting the drawer again. She scooped one of the cookies off the pan and set it in her hand before taking a bite.

You could’ve gotten me fired! Ugh, whatever it’s in the past now. Just come and bring your textbook.

Well… I guess. Just knock this time though, alright? No need to go picking locks. 

Oh… fine. You can come by after my shift.
